To Be Complete or Incomplete in Christ

GROWING IN CHRIST

1 John 2:5 “But if anyone obeys His word, God’s love is truly made complete in him.” (NIV)

Being a Christian is about far more than eternal life.  Being a Christian is ultimately about God’s love for you and how that love is perfected and made complete in you.

Obedience is the path for not only demonstrating your love for God, but also for allowing God’s love to be made complete in you.  Every follower of Christ should desire the completion of God’s love.

It would be like winning the lottery but not claiming the benefits of winning.  You have eternal life, but are you going to claim the fullness of God’s love?

If obedience is the path to experiencing God’s love, then cultivating an intimate relationship with Jesus is the path to obedience.  Meet Jesus daily in prayer and Bible reading to give Him the opportunity to speak into your life.

Cultivate a living relationship that naturally results in obedience out of a growing love for Jesus.  As obedience and relationship are a natural reflection of one’s love towards God, so are disobedience and the lack of relationship with God a reflection of your lack of love for God.

Do not allow your relationship with God to be incomplete, but one that is filled with a vibrant love that not only brings greater connection and completion to your relationship with God, but also provides a powerful witness to the world by seeing the fruit of God’s love in you.

John 17:3-4 “Now this is eternal life: that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom You have sent.  I have brought You glory on earth by completing the work You gave me to do.”  (NIV)
